CALL FOR CONFERENCE PAPERS

 

Focus

Hong Kong has one of the largest water mains rehabilitation programmes in the world. Much of the work is done in an urban busy environment.  Installing and rehabilitating pipes and cables beneath the streets by trenchless means require novel techniques and much planning and liaison with the local authorities.

 

Delegates to this conference will have an opportunity to learn about rehabilitation works, the reduction of non-revenue water in water mains and the stopping infiltration and exfiltration in sewers and drains from international experts in the field.

 

Conference

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION – INNOVATIONS IN TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGY – HONG KONG 2014 will provide an international forum for discussion on the latest techniques and developments in trenchless technology.  In addition to the two-day conference and exhibition held on 5 and 6 March 2014 (Thursday and Friday), a pre-conference workshop entitled “Innovative Technologies for Drainage and Sewerage Inspection and Trenchless Rehabilitation Works” will be held on 5 March 2014 (Wednesday).

Call for Papers

The main topic headings for the conference programme are as follows:

 

·        Sustainability and environmental benefits of trenchless techniques

·        Rehabilitation for water and wastewater infrastructure

·        Utility asset management

·        Condition survey and leakage detection

·        Non-destructive testing and surveying

·        Case studies

·        Qualification standard and regulation for trenchless technology

 

The above topics are not exhaustive and papers which fall within the general theme of the conference will be considered for presentation.  The conference consists of a series of presentations and discussions.  The official language of the conference is English but papers in Chinese are welcome.  The conference proceedings will be produced and made available at the conference. 

 

An abstract (maximum of 200 words) together with a short biography of the author’s relevant experience should be sent to the organizers no later than 31 December 2013 (Tuesday). 

 

Conditions 

·        Papers will be accepted on the basis that the named author will attend the Conference in person to make the presentation.

·        The main Conference language is English.

 

Note:  Further guidance will be sent to all successful authors.

 

Timetable

31 Dec 2013:    Closing date for abstract

4 Jan 2014:   Acceptance of abstract will be confirmed to authors

10 Jan 2014:           Publication of conference programme

30 Jan 2014:            Written papers to be submitted to organizer (maximum 4,000 words)

21 Feb 2014:           ‘Power Point’ Presentation (20 minutes) to be submitted to                  organizer

a)     The names of the authors/speakers

b)     The title of the paper

c)     Name the session topic (e.g. rehabilitation, installation, etc)

d)     An abstract of the paper (maximum 200 words in English or Chinese only)
